Baby #2 Camp Themed Nursery Reveal!

I am SO SO excited to finally share baby #2 nursery! If you missed Hudson’s reveal back in the day, you can see it here. I found connecting to baby 2 during pregnancy to be much more difficult, mostly because I’m always so focused on Hudson! BUT, planning his nursery gave me the ability to focus on him, and creating a space that he and I could grow in together. We have two additional rooms in our home aside from our bedroom and Hudson’s room – 1 was a guest bedroom, and 1 was a playroom. We opted to shift the playroom into a corner of the guest bedroom, and use the playroom as the space for the nursery. When we bought the home, this room was just an unfinished attic but it was one of the selling points for me, because I absolutely love the charm of an A-frame room. I am so glad we decided to finish the attic a few years back, so we didn’t have to think much about big renovations, and mostly just a decor shift.

One of my biggest struggles in designing the room was mostly that I LOVED Hudson’s nursery, and I didn’t feel like I could create a second boy nursery that I loved as much. I kept wanting to pick up fox pieces, and orange, because ya’ll know that’s my vibe, but I forced myself to think outside the box and come up with something very different. My girlfriend mentioned a camp theme, and I instantly thought of the movie Moonrise Kingdom, and from there, I had a vision!

The first piece I always select in planning a room is a rug. I feel like the rug ties everything together, and is much more important than it’s usually given credit for! So, I scoured the internet for I’m not kidding, MONTHS, before I finally saw this one. It spoke to me. I loved that it was plaid, and it felt like Moonrise Kingdom in rug form with all of the brown and green tones! From there, I decided to paint the back wall a green that matched the rug, and I found these amazing Camping Gear decals that fit just perfectly. A lot of you thought the back wall was wallpaper, but it’s actually painted, with decals placed on top!

We saved Hudson’s crib, so the boys will be sleeping in the same crib. One of our largest hurdles in this room is that there is no closet. Eventually I will have a custom armoire built to fit the roof angle when he is a bit older, but for now I ordered this adorable teepee clothing rack off of Etsy. I am so so happy how it looks in the space, and it actually holds a decent amount of clothing (until he grows a bit, I know! haha) We also struggled with not being able to fit a full rocker in the room due to the A-frame roofline, so we found this very space-efficient rocker with a speaker in it! I wanted to warm it up a bit, so I added this cute custom mountain pillow to it. A few other special touches that I found specifically for the room is the little bear with a campfire light above. Sea and I thrifted it in Upstate NY, and it could not have been more perfect! I also found this darling campfire toy that I knew needed to be in the space!

The finishing touches that really made the space feel complete were the addition of some Pendleton Glacier National Park blankets. They even make a sherpa baby version, which I just died over when I saw it! Cuddle + Kind were also so sweet, and sent over this Sebastian The Lamb set for Hudson and baby. Every doll sold provides 10 dolls to children in need, so I am so happy to have their cute little lamb in baby’s nursery!

Phew, that was a lot of writing, but I put so much thought into every detail of this space, and wanted to unload some of my thinking processes in designing the space with all of you! I cannot wait to play with the new little cutie in our family in here in only FOUR WEEKS! Thanks for reading! I am going to link everything that I can find still available / similar-to items below.
