Our Double Stroller + Car Seat Review

I’ve been waiting for a while to write this post, but finally sat down to give you a full review of our stroller + carseat of choice, the UPPAbaby VISTA along with the MESA infant carseat.

As a starter, I get asked often what pieces we needed to create our stroller setup. Before we had Charlie, we solely had the UPPAbaby VISTA (which includes the Toddler seat suitable for up to 50 lbs and the Bassinet), and then once I became pregnant we purchased the MESA infant car seat that works with the stroller, and the RumbleSeat to create the double stroller setup in which Hudson’s seat is in the lower position. We found the RumbleSeat is not 100% necessary unless you have a child that is under 35 lbs. Hudson is a bit big to use it, and we plan on using it more for Charlie when he gets bigger. We currently use the stroller in the position pictured above, using Hudson’s original Toddler seat in the upper position, with the MESA carseat attached down below. In order to switch the VISTA from a single to a double stroller is extremely easy. We just added on Upper and Lower adapters in order to make it so the car seat can click in, and it takes a matter of seconds! There’s a few reasons that I picked this stroller setup, but the main reason was that I loved how narrow the stroller is, and that I can get in and out of doors easily without a double wide!

Some other features of the VISTA that I really love are:

  • The Toddler Seat has an extendable canopy with UPF 50+ protection. I just love that when Hudson reclines to nap, he is fully covered from the sun, and can nap in a nice and dark setting.
  • The basket is extra large. In our previous stroller, we had much less room to pick up groceries and to hold the diaper bag below.
  • It has a one-step fold up, and it can actually fold with the Toddler seat attached as well!
  • How many configurations the seats have! Once Charlie is in the RumbleSeat, we have so many options on how we can configure the boys to sit! I love that! If you’re curious about how to configure the stroller with the pieces you currently own, check out their Expansion Tool for tips on how to configure your stroller! It helped us out a lot when we were figuring out how to pair the carseat with the Toddler Seat we currently own.

Here’s some more information on the MESA carseat, and why we picked it:

  • The most obvious reason we picked the MESA is the ease of use with our stroller. It is so easy to pull it out of our car when Charlie is napping, and to click it into the stroller. I love that he can stay asleep! If we are using the stroller as a single stroller, it connects right into the base, and if we are using it as a double, it connects with adapters.
  • It is the only infant carseat on the market that uses the SMARTSecure system
  • The headrest design keeps Charlie’s head extremely secure when he is in the stroller or in the car.

If you’re pregnant with your second, and wondering what stroller you should get, I am 100% all-in on our stroller setup. To be honest, it’s what most of my mom friends also have! It works wonderfully if you live in a city and need a larger basket for storage, or if you live in suburbia like me, but walk a lot. Both of my boys still nap in the stroller, and they both still use it every day! If you have any other questions, feel free to DM me!
