Our Backyard Reveal + Links

Before:

I am SOOOO excited for this before + after series, since this space in our backyard has been sitting in such a sad state for so many years. We don’t have much of a backyard (where we live, property size is somewhat small since it’s near the beach) but we had this little space behind our detached garage, and I had visions of what I wanted it to become for years. I’ve never had a yard in my entire adult life, I’ve always lived in apartment complexes. I like to renovate slowly, because I always like having areas left to dream about, and it was so fun perusing Pinterest and getting ideas for this little nook. I knew right off the bat that I wanted the space to have a very light and airy feeling to it, almost like a Miami resort on South Beach. We also decided that we were going to have synthetic grass installed, because the space does not see much direct sunlight, and our grass never fully grew. For anyone local, we used Elite Synthetic Surfaces, and they did an amazing job. The entire job took 1 day from beginning to end, although they were very busy, so we had to wait about a month or so from the time we booked them. I’d say if you are looking into turf for the Summer next year, try to call ahead of time (in like March/April) so it is installed by the time it gets warmer outside!

Once the turf was installed, I got to work on cozying up the rest of the space! I added this neutral rug, which I think is necessary since the turf is not the most comfortable to sit on without a blanket. Our couch is from Pier 1, so I snagged it for an extremely affordable price, since they’re going out of business. This one has a similar vibe.

I really wanted to make sure there was an abundance of seating for when we have people over, or BBQ’s and I fell in love with these Wicker chairs. I also got a matching table, and wanted to keep the space airy with a smaller coffee table that can also be used or converted into an end table. I added a ton of cute pillows that are all considered outdoor, and are water resistant. Because the couch is white, and underneath a tree, I do cover it when we are not using it to make sure it does not get stained or ruined.

I finished the space by adding these adorable solar powered lanterns into the trees. They remind me of our wedding, since we had them during the ceremony.
