My Beach Must-Haves With A Baby and a Toddler

We are lucky enough to live super close to the beach, but we didn’t take full advantage of it until this Summer. As a baby, Hudson was not a fan of the beach at all. He didn’t truly love it until this past year, so we wouldn’t have “beach days” we were pretty non-committal about popping in with a towel for an hour or so, until he was over it. This Summer he finally understands how soothing and entertaining a good beach day is, so we have been heading there a few days a week. We realized that the only way for us, the parents, to sit on the beach and still have our sanity is by being really over prepared. It’s really hard to head out for hours with two small kids and not bring a ton of things, so we went all-in and finally got ourselves set up for beach success.

The first great purchase we made is this pop-up tent. It is really simple to use, and provides a nice spot for Charlie to sit, or to nap and be out of the sun. We also grabbed these two chairs for Matt and I – I wanted something comfortable but also cute to look at. We also picked up this seat for Charlie, but a warning – it is not the best quality. After purchasing  all of this gear, we realized we needed a way to pull it all to the beach, so we ordered a beach wagon that is collapsable, and it has great compartments for drinks, sunscreen, etc. Having the right toys and gear for the kids and for ourselves has made it possible to head to the beach for hours, hangout by the shore, play, nap, eat and not feel that “oh shit, we forgot this thing!” feeling that can ruin the day as a parent. I also linked some cute things we use below, like our towel, and Hudson’s toys. Happy Beachin’!
