BEFORE:
I am so excited to finally feel comfortable enough with where my bedroom is at to share it! I am such a freak about interiors, and I like to really spend my time ordering piece by piece until I feel like a room is complete… and I still feel like I have a bit more work to do in here! There’s a few corners I’d like to perfect, and I’ll be changing up the decor for Fall soon, so I figured why not just put the photos out there into the world! It’s hard to grasp what exactly changed in this room when you aren’t standing in the space – aesthetically I loved our bedroom before! We had our bed in a cozy little corner, and I spent a while making the room feel like our own, so I was happy with it. It just wasn’t very functional.
The main issue with our master bedroom before the renovation was that it was extremely small, we had virtually 0 closet space because the room was from the 1950’s, and our master bathroom didn’t actually work. The shower had issues, so we’d shower in the guest bathroom. The room also led into a railroad room, which led into our kitchen, so our layout was very bizarre. We worked with an architect to reconfigure this entire side of the house to create one big master suite. Our master bathroom (reveal coming soon!) now lives where our kitchen used to be, and we combined the railroad room with our old master bedroom to create one big space. The wall above in the “before” photos that our headboard was once sitting against was mostly removed, and it is currently the wall that houses the triangular shelf. It’s confusing, I know!
Our priorities in reconfiguring the space were that we’d have enough room to fit a Queen sized bed, without pushing it against a wall. We also wanted two separate closets, and a master bathroom. The space feels so nice and open now!!! We are SO happy with how it came out – this room is now one of my favorite spaces in our house. There’s not a single thing architecturally I would have changed about it or done differently! Here’s tons of AFTER photos, and I am going to link as much of the decor as I can!
