I know a lot of couples make “date night” a regular thing, but Matt and I are pretty bad about it, to be honest. We’re lucky if we get out just the two of us once per month, but we do work from home together sometimes and get to sneak out for lunch dates. It’s SO hard to find a reliable sitter, and that has been our main issue and reason we duck out of date nights a lot of the times. But, this past weekend my dad was in town, and we ALWAYS take advantage of the grandparents and use their visit as an excuse to sneak out and spend some time just the two of us. We had this one planned for a while, and were so excited to take a drive out to the Hamptons to attend Dan’s Taste of Two Forks, a food and wine festival that includes top chefs from 40 restaurants and tons of vineyards that all come together and host an event. It was actually my VERY FIRST food festival, and it almost felt like a wedding buffet, just with really really good food. I’m a sweets lover myself, so the desert was my friend.
I was also extremely excited to pop into the Craigs Creamery activation. I’m not sure if you remember, but Matt and I partnered with this new farm-to-table cheese brand earlier this year, and have since been hooked on its wide variety of fresh and delicious cheeses, they’re always stocked in our home! Hudson is a cheese addict! If you didn’t see my post earlier this year, Craigs Creamery is a new brand founded by eight family farms in Upstate NY, and they’re out on the road this summer letting local New Yorkers try its delicious new cheese on the Craigs Creamery Tour! During the pop-up activations, attendees can experience the wholesome taste of Craigs Creamery cheeses, learn about the brand’s history and participate in photo opportunities. We had so much fun! The tour will also stop at Smorgasburg in Brooklyn on 7/27 and 7/28 and at various Stop & Shop and ShopRite locations throughout New York. Don’t fret if you’re not local or can’t attend, you can pick up the cheese at Stop & Shop, ShopRite, Giant Landover and Tops stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland.
Craigs Creamery is also a big supporter of sustainable methods, and I was so impressed to see that the brand was shipping leftover food from Dan’s Taste of Summer back to the farm to be converted into green energy. The event food waste, along with expired food from the Upstate NY community, will be added to the Craigs Creamery bio-digester and turned into renewable energy to fuel the creamery. SO impressive and a much better use of food waste versus going to a landfill if you ask me!
We started the night out with cheese samples and then we headed into the big tent and I ate way, way too much, but it was so delicious! I’d say some of my favorite dishes were the scones with peach jam on top, a pulled pork slider and I really loved a lobster fritter with mac n cheese (made with Craigs Creamery, of course)! To say we left stuffed is an understatement, but Matt and I really loved the experience, and we both agreed it’s a date night we’d be willing to do again!
What are some of your favorite date night ideas? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks to Craigs Creamery for sponsoring this post, as always all opinions are my own.
