8 Spring Basics I’ve Been Living In (Budget Friendly!)

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed lately, but the world has slowly become WAY more basic. When I started this blog back in 2012, really cutesy clothing was in – like peter pan collars, pearl collars, pleated vintage-inspired dresses, and outfits that looked like this. I basically looked like I stepped out of Taylor Swift’s “ME” music video every day, as every article of my clothing used to have cats or floral prints on them. I’m not sure if I am sad that ship has sailed, or if it makes sense since I am now more “grown up” but regardless of my opinions on the matter, the styles have CHANGED. Everything is so much more simple these days, and I’ve noticed basics, white t-shirts with jeans, and mostly solid pieces are very in. I picked up some spring staples with these new trends in mind, and figured I’d share with you!

1 – Polka dotted dress – This is the least basic piece on my list, but I love a good polka dotted dress for spring/summer, and I will get TONS of use out of this one. As Fall approaches, I usually add tights under my dresses as well to keep them seasonally appropriate. The dress has a lot of stretch, so it’s very comfortable.

2 – Corduroy shirt/jacket – During the Spring in NY it’s still chilly most days, and I am all about layering a light coat over a sweater or a t-shirt. I love the color of this corduroy shirt, and it comes with a belt, so it looks cute buttoned up and belted as well.

3 – Ribbed sweater – THIS IS MY FAVORITE PIECE ON THE LIST! I am so sad it doesn’t come in more colors, because I’d buy every color, It is so soft, and slightly cropped so it looks adorable with high waisted jeans, shorts or skirts. I’ve worn it non-stop!

4 – Knotted t-shirt – The knotted t-shirt crop top is so in right now, and I love how affordable this one is. It also comes in many different adorable pastel colors!

5 – Striped pleated skirt – I usually pick up one basic pleated skirt per spring/summer, and I love how this one can match with so many different color options! I’ll probably wear it with a red top for the fourth of July!

6 – Lightweight Cardigan – I love the look of a layered cardigan, even during warmer months, so this one is perfect! It’s an extremely light weight and very breathable, plus I love the pastel color for spring!

7 – pleated skirt – I loved the color of this skirt so much!! It’s also a bit longer in length, so when I’m wrangling Hudson, I won’t flash anyone, haha! It isn’t stretchy, so I’d size up.

8 – Brown crop top – For all my small chested ladies out there, this top is great!! I love how flattering the halter tie is, and it matches with so many different bottoms – I love it with light wash denim, or a checked skirt!
