I know how hard shopping for jeans can be – I struggle to find the right pair, and generally stick with the styles that I know fit me best. I’ve talked a lot about that in other blog posts, and how my struggle has to do with my height, and also my hip to waist ratio. Most jeans fit either my waist or my hips, but not both, so I usually settle for jeans that are either a bit baggy on my waist, or a bit tight on my hipline. I also usually have to order tall size, even though I am on the border, and am not truly a tall. When my best friend Sara, who works at Levi’s, let me try on her wedgie jeans a year or so ago, I fell in LOVE. They’re perfectly high waisted (around a 10 inch rise) but they’re tapered and fit my hips just right. They’re so versatile, and I like that they’re TRUE denim, so they’re different from my other stretchy denim jeans. The biggest trick I learned from the wedgie jean is that they’re going to feel a bit tight when you try them on in your size at first, but do not size up, because throughout the day they stretch out a bit and fit just right. Then you’ll never want to take them off!
I know most of you are extremely visual (like me!) so I wanted to show you a few styling tips on how I style my wedgie jeans from a day look to a night look. I am wearing the collateral damage wash, and I also own them in the “higher love” wash, if you’re looking for a little bit darker denim. I paired the denim with this cute Levi’s boyfriend button back shirt. I love styling the fringe hemline on these jeans with shoes that hit my ankle a tiny bit above the crop to show off the cute fringe! In both looks I added a belt, because I prefer a look to be belted when the shirt is tucked in. For my daytime look, I cozied the look up with some brown booties and a chunky scarf, and for nighttime I threw on a suede jacket, some heels and a fancier bag! It’s wild how just swapping out shoes and bags can really change an entire look!
