I am now at that age where I am constantly being invited to weddings, or baby showers. A few years back it was TONS and tons of weddings, but lately it’s been more baby showers, and “sprinkles” for my friends having their second babies! It’s so wild watching everyone become parents, it really puts my life into perspective, and makes me realize how we are all getting older. Because I was one of the first in my group of friends to have a baby (and because I am a blogger and constantly testing new products) I almost feel like it’s on me to pass on my little bits of wisdom. I actually have an email template I send as a “starter mom kit” when each friend gets pregnant, listing my entire registry, things I used, things I brought to the hospital, etc. I’ve been told it is really helpful!
But, I am here today to talk about protocol for when you may not be a parent yet, but you are invited to a baby shower (or even if you are a parent already!) Usually there is a registry on the shower invite, but I always like to add in a little extra something + something I know a new mom will need a lot of! After attending a sprinkle this weekend, I thought it would be fun to share my ideas with you! Best thing? All you need is to go to Target!
BOOKS: At my shower, my cousin made it mandatory that instead of bringing a card, everyone brought a book and wrote their note inside of it. It was such a sweet idea, and we still use all of the books that we were given. I think you may think you have too many books before you have your baby, but once they are born and they want to re-read every book 1000 times you’re usually thankful to have an abundance! That being said, books are a great and timeless gift, and you can never go wrong by giving one, just make sure they are age appropriate – babies and toddlers have short attention spans!
A FUN PHOTO PROP: There’s nothing like getting someone a gift they never even knew they needed, like this cute so dorable knit photo prop! Everyone is constantly snapping photos of their newborn, and you know they’ll toss the prop in for a photo or two!
PAMPERS PURE COLLECTION DIAPERS/ WIPES: This one is a no-brainer, every single new parent needs diapers! It’s one of the most expensive parts of being a parent in the beginning, so you are doing a huge favor by bringing diapers as a gift! I’ve used Pampers since day one, and ever since they launched their Pampers Pure Collection consisting of premium cotton and other thoughtfully selected ingredients I have been on board! Plus the diapers have the cutest prints – look at the llama! They’re a great option for parents who don’t want to compromise on ingredients, but still have the amazing protection and dryness factor that I always loved about Pampers.
Most babies are in size N when they are born, but it may be nice to bring a size up. I always loved having size 1 or 2 on-hand from gifts, so when Hudson grew I didn’t have to spend more or run out to grab new diapers. You can get them for $3 off here!
ONESIES! This is another gift that new parents can never have enough of! I can’t even tell you how many white onesies I went through, because of spit up or food Hudson would get on himself. I absolutely love these fun fox patterned onesies from Target! Again, think about buying size 3-6 months or 6-9 months, because new parents have soo many clothes in that teeny tiny size, that they usually don’t even get around to wearing them all. What can I say, it’s an exciting time and you just want to collect clothing for your brand new baby!
BURP CLOTHS: These are less than glamorous, but are completely necessary. All babies spit up, or need to be burped after they feed, so if you can gift a cute set of them, they will not go unused!
I hope that this list was helpful if you have any showers coming up!
Thanks for Pampers Pure Collection for sponsoring this post, as always all opinions are my own.
