my friend Kelsea and i decided to test out a homemade pumpkin spice recipe. i read this article, and was pretty sad that the latte has literally NO REAL PUMPKIN in it. i always knew my seasonal PSL’s were a treat, and knew they couldn’t be lengthening my life, but i never knew there was 0 pumpkin in them! it was the motivation i needed to make my own.
We used this recipe, but we changed it up a bit. It only cost about $10, and took about 20 minutes. Definitely amazing for us DIY gals who don’t want to spend extra $$ on Starbucks all the time!
♥ 1 1/2 cups water
♥ 1 1/2 cups sugar (going to try it with a little less and see how it tastes next time!)
♥ 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
♥ 1/2 tsp ground cloves
♥ 1/2 tsp ground ginger
♥ 1 tsp nutmeg
♥ 3 Tbsp canned pumpkin (i definitely didn’t think this was enough, and will add prob 6 next time)
♥ vanilla extract
Then we made coffee, and added it in as a syrup. We even added a little whipped cream on top as a special treat 😉 The recipe makes enough extra to keep using over the next month or so!
