There’s this weird thing that happens when you’re a blogger… you start to think of your outfits as either “blogworthy” or “normal.” Sometimes when I put on a pair of jeans, or overalls with a plain t-shirt, i think WOW i look so so normal, like i’m unworthy of being a fashion blogger, and that pushes me to spice it up. Like if one of you ran into me, you’d be disappointed or something. This feeling is what causes that “blogger pressure” that is so often thrown around (and also maybe snickered at). I was really relieved when my blog friend Kallie told me she feels the exact same way! How many of you out there feel that same way?

Maybe if i didn’t have blog pressure, I would have just styled this with a long sleeve striped tee and called it a day. The pressure IS motivating sometimes, but sometimes it’s also so discouraging!

It's so dispiriting to see how much you've grown to resent blogging lately. After the impromptu break it seems like you're really questioning how much you want to be a part of the community.

If you're not having fun anymore, just quit! It gets really sad for readers to see post after post of you feeling bummed or beholden to the project you started. It doesn't have to be like that! If you're not inspired anymore, just walk away.

  • @Anon… I have no clue what you refer to… the spring has been beautiful and my past month or so of posts have all been filled with positivity! Please understand that not every single day can be amazing, and not every single post should be 100% happy because that wouldn't be realistic… hope you can appreciate my honesty 🙂

  • i feel the same way! i always save my "blogworthy" outfits for the weekends when I know i'll be able to take to take pictures! love the overalls btw.

  • Haha, I totally feel that way! Especially on Mondays — Mondays are my errand days, so I tend to put on the easiest things I can find and just go. But I've realized that I really feel better when I'm "blog worthy" which is also just the outfits that really feel like ME, so lately I've been doing the same thing — pushing myself to actually dress in something I love, rather than something that I'm just okay with. And I agree that the pressure can get discouraging, when you go through phases where you don't FEEL like wearing something blog worthy and then that makes you feel like maybe you're not worthy of being a fashion blogger — I go through that too. I think it's normal! Blogging for so long, we have to go through random phases of being uninspired. Nobody can wear amazing outfits every single day!

But, you look so cute! I think a striped tee would have been adorable with this too, though! The cat print shirt is just fantastic.

  • Firstly Anon didn't seem to get that venting is totally normal and okay!

I definitely feel the exact same way. Some days I know my look isn't "blogworthy" so it pushes me to be a bit bolder and make more interesting choices!
