Still alive…

hi there! long time no see. I have been enjoying a much needed time off from this space to explore what life feels like when it isn’t constantly recorded. I’ve got to say, it feels good. sometimes it is really overwhelming feeling like every day has to be “photo ready” and every moment has to be shared. i like having my privacy back, and my memories for myself – not to be recorded and shared with the world.

with that being said, i also love this little blog, and all that comes along with it, so i will be back soon. i promise. here’s some snaps from my best friend alex’s bridal shower in florida. i guess my number one question from my hiatus is… is blogging worth it anymore? do people read blogs anymore, or do they just follow along on instagram? and what is next… because i know something new will be around the corner soon…

what do you think?

  • You look so wonderful Steffy! ^_^

  • Great photos, looks like a fun event

  • It's pretty obvious that Instagram and YouTube are going strong and that blogs aren't what they used to be, but I still believe that unique and creative blogs have nothing to be "afraid" of, they'll always have readers.

I still really like your posts, instagram is fun yes, but i like when you share your thoughts about random things, you seem a happy person and you write really nicely. So i would love it if you continue to blog. But you should do as you like, and as you feel 🙂

  • I think a lot of bloggers are asking this question. One of my favorite vintage bloggers did a while back, and then I also wrote about blogging and comments and such….it is a good question and always good to reevaluate who we're doing this for. Is it worth it? I hope so! I enjoy reading your blog and I missed your posts, but at the same time, I appreciate what you're saying about not wanting to be caught up in making sure every moment is "photo ready." And yes, Instagram is really nice, but there is something really good about blogs…there are some people who I really enjoy only on Instagram, but the bloggers I follow…now that's a select few. Yours included, of course!

  • I personally love reading blogs, instagram is fine, but there is something about feeling a connection to what is being written instead of scrolling down someone's feed for hours.

I agree with Norbyah and Antoinette, but follow your heart whichever direction it takes you. Cheers, Ardith

  • I've been feeling the same way. I think I need a little break too, to get inspired again and refocus on the important things in life…and to have fun!
I think you're doing great as always!

  • lovely pictures, looks like you had so much fun! good to see you back but it's important to have moments to yourself as well and not feel pressured by your blog:-) i think blogs maybe aren't the same they used to be and a lot of people are focusing more on youtube or instagram, but i still prefer blogs and feel like i'm not the only one, haha:-) xx

  • Absolutely gorgeous! This dress is beautiful, and I love the hat so much! Had to pin this <3

  • I just got into blogging a few years back but I love it so much. I like how there is a place to record my thoughts and listen to people. With Instagram and YouTube it is much easier to get snippets quickly, but I think blogging leads to a more thoughtful and enjoyable experience.

  • beautiful dress! happy life!

  • Very good bolg

  • Happy to see you again blogging! 🙂 I am one of those that still reads (and loooves) blogs because I like how they are not only showing but telling you a complete story 🙂 I like to take my time to enjoy blogs and get inspired, and not only browsing casually like I do on social networks. Btw, you are radiant in the pictures! Congrats to your friend!

  • You definitely have a point about instagram and how that is a lot more relevant now a days. For me I blog because I love to write, so mine is a lot less photo focused in order to allow me some creative freedom. My 9-5 can get exhausting so my blog is for me… no one else! Although obviously it's more fun if people follow along. Do what you want and what you desire… I think that's the key! If it doesn't make you happy it isn't worth it… end story. :

  • I still read and love blogs since they tell a full story and you get to know the people behind them so much better than on other social media. Plus, I love your blog and outfits! You're looking so pretty at the bridal shower. (: However, I think you shouldn't stress about blogging and do it at your own pace. That's what I'm doing right now and I love it. All the best to you!

  • I think Instagram is definitely leading the way, but blogs are still relevant! I like that blogs can be more personal- if you want them to be. I get much more out of reading a blog than I do from IG because I feel like it's closer to the person you're reading about. I don't know, I'm rambling… Haha! Either way, I love seeing your posts and think you are so adorable! I don't ever get tired of your blog 🙂

I wonder if people read blogs anymore as well. My heart isn't 100% in blogging these days, but instagram is still fun.

  • Really cute! We love your style

  • This is a bit late…but Norbyah could not have said it any better…and I agree with her wholeheartedly. As much as the quick pictures of instagram may be taking over, I think blogs are still very important. I read a core of 3. There is something satisfying about waking up in the morning, or logging on at night every now and then and "catching up" with people you have come to admire through their stories. I have personally known you and followed your blog for years and shopped at your store…I have found reading what you have to say insightful and inspiring for more than one reason…it is cool to see someone my age growing and progressing differently than me…but at the same time it is something to look forward too, it is also nice…to know such nice people are happy!
At the end of the day, the question isn't so much is blogging worth it anymore, but more so, is it worth it to you anymore….I am sure everyone can respect those hiatuses of needed privacy and normalcy…but the days, your blog stops becoming fun anymore, then leave it behind and start something new….you know you'll have followers 😉
    love always, erin
