the spice of life!

so after watching the cheesy but ‘with a point’ movie midnight in paris, my dad and i got to chatting about the fantasy of living during a different era. it really has me thinkin’ why i love the 60’s so much that i emulate the era with my clothing tastes, music choices & of course the way i decorate. i decided that it isn’t necessary the era in itself, but just the idea of a peachy universe or world where everything is cheery. in my mind, that place is within the time period of the 60’s. it is a little place to go away to whenever things aint so hot or even when they are, i can still walk into a diner in my mind and slurp on a chocolate milkshake. do you have a little place in your mind that you go to?
anywho, my other little bubble of happiness is this blog, that is meant to inspire you and uplift you! so… i bring to you peach and pink. the best combo! and polka dots! the blouse is for sale here, the skirt is for sale here… and check out so many other goodies i just listed!

  • I love your shoes and skirt! So ladylike. Also, I changed my blog from Streets & Stripes to The Fieldbook.

I'm thinking of switching it back (since most people know where to find S&S) but at least for now that's where I'll be posting style pics and such : )

  • So retro chic! What I love most about your outfit are the bursts of midnight blue.

  • These are some of my favorite pictures – beautiful. I loved that movie. Mike and I saw it Monday. Nice change up from the usual fare and I'm reading some stuff by Hemingway right now so it was perfect timing. On another note, love the wall you painted and particular the circles – did you paint those or are they adhesive? Where did you get the idea?

  • Yayyy, happy things and collabs! This outfit was the perfect one to draw ๐Ÿ™‚ As usual, it was a blast!

  • that outfit and the sketch are DIVINE!! and yes, the sixties are my fave era too. I guess for me it's the feeling of change that makes that decade so amazing: change in movies (nouvelle vague), music (rock) and art (andy warhol and co), change in social standing for minorities and women, the growing influence of the media, but all of that with a bit of the sweet, glamorous flair of the fifties… It was all happening back then ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Oh it sounds like your dad is such a cool person! No wonder you turned out to be a sweet girl, loved the sketch! Happy friday Steff!

  • The ascot/scarf is capturing my heart! I would so keep that puppy too. ;D

I do understand what you mean about liking an era of time or a place so much. You kind of believe it to be this special place where things aren't as bad as where you are. I think my time period is the 80's. Lol! I've been raised on synth-pop and while the fashion is a little too much for me — the excitement of a prosperous America and new emerging technology makes me happy. ๐Ÿ™‚
